EVALUATION
When I was doing my school front cover and contents page, I spent a lot of time looking at other existing college/school magazine front covers and contents pages. Since they are real media products, I made sure that my unfinished media product would use the widely used and accepted techniques, the conventions of those real, existing media products. I looked at the layout of each and every single cover and they all had similar but also in a way, unique layouts. There was one particular college magazine that used a layout that I really liked so I took that idea but also keeping in mind that I change it as I go to make it unique not an exact copy.
Looking back at the magazine covers I had a look at, it seems that they all had their own way of attracting their target audience. It was everything from what or who is in the main image to what colour should the sub head be. Since my target audience was teenagers (15-19), I made sure to include all the things typical teens look at; for example, they won’t be interested in looking at a bunch of little pictures scattered across the front cover. Instead, I put only one large image that covers the whole page, which was probably the best choice. Together with including things teens look at, I also excluded the stuff that they won’t waste their time with because if the front cover looks boring but the inside of the magazine is spectacular, teenagers will instantly lose interest just by judging by the front cover. To do this, I made sure that the text on the cover was not boring and plain but interesting and bold.
Obviously they are going to read whatever is on the front cover so I made sure to write about things that might interest them like including topics about their favourite electronics, computers, chromebooks in particular. Or mentioning about events that take place outside of school like trips to universities and more.
